 1ª Atividade

Leia a conversa a seguir entre Anderson e Lukás (um hóspede alemão que recentemente se mudou para São Paulo para trabalhar como voluntário) e responda às questões sugeridas:

 ANDERSON – Hello, Lukás! Nice to meet you. My name is Anderson.

LUKÁS – Hi, Anderson! Nice to meet you too. How are you doing?

ANDERSON – I’m fine, thank you. How about you? Enjoying your stay?

LUKÁS – I’m fine too. Yes, my friend Alexander and I are enjoying this hostel and the neighborhood very much.

ANDERSON – Good. How long are you going to stay here in São Paulo?

LUKÁS – We don’t know yet. I signed up for a volunteer job that is going to last six months, but I can extend it for another six months. Alexander also signed up, but only for three months. He is also from Germany.

ANDERSON – A volunteer job? How nice! What exactly will you be doing?

LUKÁS – I will be working in projects that aim at the development of communities.

ANDERSON – Development of communities? That sounds interesting!

LUKÁS – It is! I will help with many things, like teaching languages and computer basics and will also help to refurbish houses. My friend Alexander will teach music and arts to children.

ANDERSON – So you are not alone! Very interesting! And when do you start?

LUKÁS – We start on Monday. A Brazilian who organizes one of these projects will come pick us up. His name is Bruno.

ANDERSON – Well, good luck on your volunteer work! I really admire your interest in coming all the way from Germany to help people you don’t even know.

LUKÁS – Thank you, Anderson. See you around!

ANDERSON – See you, Lukás!

How to become a good listener and help people. (Como se tornar um bom ouvinte e ajudar as pessoas.)

  It is not necessary to have any special qualifications to become a befriender. There is a training course offered by experienced volunteers. It is fundamental to learn how to listen without judgement. You can help people that need to talk and have nobody to listen to them. Talking to these people is a way to make them reflect about their own life and save it. There is a local branch near you pleased to give you more information.
